The sound is the only thing I've found that has never worked out of the box, and for any Ubuntu install (and its clones), all that was needed was adding the following to the nf in /etc/modprobe. So I decided to give Debian a try, and here I am, asking you fine people for some assistance. I don't want to continue to do that, this laptop is pushing 11 years old, it still has the original HDD, and without installing macfanctld package, Thermals are not properly controlled during OS installation (You can fry an egg on this thing when it gets hot), so I'm just trying to save on the wear and tear on the old gal. Its been a bit of learning curve for me (My main desktop is Windows based for gaming), so I did the research, installed rEFInd, and for a while I was using Ubuntu (and its derivatives, like Mint), but I was never satisfied, not to mention that things always tended to stop working after awhile, requiring the nuclear option (reinstalling). So I did the only sensible thing I could think of, Put Linux on it. We cannot discuss such things, so mods will simply remove such posts. I picked up a MacBook pro off my friend a while ago on the cheap (First Generation MB Pro, Core Duo 2.16ghz, 2gb ram) and, well, lets just say that OSX support for 10.6.8 is virtually non-existent. The January 2006 Macbook Pro will run Snow Leopard max It has an Intel Core Duo and 10.6.8 is as high as it will go (supported that is).
